An ultrasonic welder consists of the following components:

Power supply - increases the wattage or electrical energy

Converter - changes the electrical energy to mechanical vibration energy

Booster - an amplitude modifying device, transmits the vibration to the horn

Horn - an acoustic tool that transfers the vibration energy directly to the part, creates heat and fuses parts together

Stand or frame of welder - holds the converter, booster and horn. Also controls the alignment of the horn face into contact with the part to be welded

Fixture, Holding Fixture or Nest - This can be very simple or complex. Note: The fixture that holds the part must provide adequate support to prevent distortion when being sonic welded - fixtures also maximize the efficiency of the operation.
