Q. What size part can LeVic Mold?

A. LeVic can mold 62 to 71 square inch footprint maximum depending on material selection. Multiply the top width by the length will give total square inches. Subtract any holes (square inches) in top of part will leave you with the footprint of the part. We do not have a minimum size.

Q. My part weight is 12 oz. is this too much for LeVic?

A. No, LeVic can mold from a few grams up to 16 oz.

Q. What materials does LeVic mold?

A. LeVic molds commodity resins (polypropylene, polyethylene and styrene) and engineering resins (ABS, polycarbonates, acetal, polyesters, rubbers, elastomers and urethanes, filled and unfilled) as well as ultem and polysulfone materials. Many of these materials can have stainless steel and/or carbon for ESD or RFI protection depending on the part requirements.LeVic can provide a Certificate of Compliance on all materials if required by your Company.

Q. What materials does LeVic use to build molds?

A. Aluminum, steel, thermally conductive copper or combination depending on part requirements, quantity of parts to be produced and materials to be molded. Experience has shown that the mold life exceeds the design life of the part.

Q. Will LeVic build a mold to run in another shop?

A. NO! Our molds cost less because we build them to run in our equipment.

Q. Can I send LeVic a mold and have parts produced from it?

A. YES! Many of our customers have sent LeVic production molds to run due to dissatisfaction with the quality or delivery from the original molder. When using another company's mold, LeVic has a nominal charge to take the mold apart, clean, inspect, grease and reassemble the mold. If anything needs to be repaired we will notify you for authorization.

Q. Do you mold threads?

A. Yes! LeVic can mold both ID and OD threads to standard thread specifications. Do you need a special thread? We do those also to your part requirements, bottle threads, special acme, etc.

Q. Do you do insert molding?

A. YES! LeVic molds inserts of all sizes, i.e., threaded inserts in brass and stainless, stud inserts, special shafts, cable, wires (insulated and non insulated), metal stampings and two-color molding. Click here for more insert molding details.

Q. How many parts will your mold produce?

A. Depending on the type of resin selected, the geometry of the part and number of cavities, you can expect your aluminum mold to produce approximately 20,000 to 50,000 pieces or more.

Q. Can my part be color matched?

A. YES! There are two procedures: (a) custom color resins, color matched to your needs in material selected; and (b) color concentrate - standard colors or custom matched.

Q. Will you design my part?

A. LeVic prefers to work hand-in-hand with your designer or engineer on a part design. Experience has shown that with this approach we have a more cost effective method for the part design and part production.
